The Luna Building, London
role   design manager for Southwark Council
developer and client   Berkeley Homes
architect   Glenn Howells Architects
GreerPritchard consultant Julie Greer encouraged the developer of this riverside site to fundamentally rethink the initial brief. She encouraged the appointment of an additional design team.
Any building here needs to respond to the local conservation area (which includes listed buildings) while standing out as contemporary and well-crafted, retaining the specific contextual language so important to this part of south London.
The site was subsequently divided between two practices and Glen Howells Architects appointed by Berkeley Homes to design the Luna Building.
The appointment of an additional practice significantly improved the urban grain and resulted in an appropriate architectural response. Julie led discussions with members and the local planning committee, who unanimously agreed the proposal.
