Architect's private residence, Camden, hearing
role   planning advice, expert witness
client   Richard Lavington and Kay Hughes
We provided planning advice for an appeal against refusal of planning permission by Camden Council in London for the proposed use of materials to a side extension to an architect's private residence.
The site concerned has a long planning history and GreerPritchard's Julie Greer advised the client to request an informal hearing, rather than appeal by written representations, which had been the intention.
Julie brought leading architecture critic Ken Powell on board, who prepared a statement that addressed the architectural merits of the scheme. Julie gave evidence on the character and appearance of the conservation area.
The council's inspector supported and endorsed the evidence given on behalf of the client.
outcome   appeal allowed
